FreeTerm started life as part of Tom Hughes' FreeNet project, a one man mission to bring a freeware BSD sockets like TCP/IP stack to Acorn RISC-OS machines. Soon after the first release of FreeNet and FreeTerm development was taken over by myself, Tony Howat. Merlin Hughes volunteered to write a new terminal library for the project, thus giving the program a major facelift. We've carried on from there, the eventual aim being to produce the ultimate program to destroy humanity and take over the world.
